Hypoplasia of the pulmonary arteries has been cited as a contraindication
to right vertricular bypass operations. We have successfully corrected a
lesion in which the left pulmonary artery was severely hypoplastic and have
documented a good hemodynamic result postoperatively. Size of pulmonary
arteries is less important than pulmonary vascular resistance as a
criterion for orthoterminal correction.
