We developed a new surgical technique to treat coarctation of the aorta. It
consists of an aortoplasty in which the left subclavian artery is
transected, opened longitudinally, and sutured to the coarctated segment so
as to correct the narrowing and also maintain blood flow through the left
upper limb.
